Salty and Sweet
It's a busy time of year. So busy, in fact, I don't have time for a real post. I do, however, have a great tip: Try a bit of blue cheese, and a lovely Tokaji from Hungary. After a long grueling day of shopping, wrapping, and taming the wild wolf pack that is your family, share this with someone you love and make peace. Tokaji is a dessert wine similar to Sauternes or Ice Wine; it's rich, fruity, and sweet with a brisk, balancing acidity. Pair it with a salty, rich cheese such as Maytag Blue or Stilton, and you've got one of those fantastic combinations that makes you pause for a moment and appreciate life. Dessert wines are sold by the half bottle, and are pretty expensive. My favorite, Oremus Furmint Tokaji Late Harvest, sells for $26. You don't really want super size portions anyway--just a little taste to keep your inner Scrooge in check. Coming Soon: A video post on Bubbly. Enjoy
